Science Rules!

Back in August we had a really fun day at the

Detroit Science Center

with our wonderful neighbors and friends the Rama family.

Some of the highlights included "driving" the forklift.

I never realized until this trip that Trevor sticks his tongue out when he's concentrating.

So funny to watch. :)

Kensington Beach

We had two adventures to Kensington Beach this summer, one with Daddy Rob on a Saturday, and one with friends.

Our Saturday trip included a 'Colonial Fair.'

They had booths set up with weavers, blacksmiths, a band, and a bunch of guys walking around in military outfits. There were indians too, all painted red. They weren't wearing much at all so we didn't take pictures of them.

We stopped by the Kensington Barn and Farmyard which was fun to see and it was even free!

(I must be reading too much Dr. Suess...that rhymed unintentionally...)

On the beach we had a picnic and built a sandcastle together.

We had a favorite hike in the White Tank Mountains in Arizona, and we named a small peak we conquered "Soulizona!" So, in keeping with tradition, this sandcastle is "Souligan!"

Kids love sand and water. We stayed all afternoon!

Our first adventure to Kensington Beach began with a BLOWN OUT TIRE on the FREEWAY. :(

A little scary, but we were okay.

Luckily, Rob wasn't in surgery at the time and I was able to page him. He came, put on the spare tire, switched me cars, and we headed to the beach anyway.

Hasta La Vista August

Another month flew by barely noticed at our house, but looking over pictures I realize why. It was very busy, in a very good way. Since I haven't kept up, here's another lengthy post of little things that kept our month flying by. We did have a few big adventures which I'll post later.

All the busy-ness did leave us a little tired sometimes though.

Trevor started Potty training! We've found it's going to be a slower process than we hoped, but he's had some success, and he sure looks cute in lightening McQueen underwear.

A baking buddy. She got a "High School Musical Cook Book" for free from the library for finishing the summer reading program, and now she loves to cook. and I don't mind the help either.

Kids "helping" with laundry by putting on all Dad's clean socks!

Shopping for new fall clothes. This little model loved trying everything on and matching up different outfits. What are we going to do with her? She's 6 going on 16!

Ryan alsot got a new handsome suit for church.

(Gotta love it when you luck out at second hand kids stores :)

This one turned into a snack market, with leaves as the dollar bills.

Dates with my hunk. Shatilla (a Mediteranean Bakery) is so yummy!

We're going back with the kids for sure.

Gadzooks of Play dates with friends!

These are Ellie's neighborhood friends, Sara and Maya.

My neighbors asked me if I'm the babysitter for my church, or if I make money watching kids. The truth of the matter is that my kids LOVE their friends, and want them to come over all the time.

It works out great for me to when they entertain each other and 1+1=0.

There are the days that 1+1=4, but we still love to have friends to play.

We loved Swim Lessons at Westland Pool!

After swim class we would play at the park next door, what a fun way to pass hot, summer days!

We had to go back to the pool with Daddy so the kids could show him all they learned in their 2 weeks of classes.

Daddy was very inspiring, and Ellie swam 10 laps with him!

That's our girl. Ryan improved his swimming skills a lot too.

What a wonderful, whirl wind of a month.
