For part of Family Night this week we listened to Elder Holland's, "The Tongue of Angels" talk and made chain reactions with wooden dominoes. We talked about how our words cause chain reactions and we choose if they are good or bad reactions.

The kids and I had such a fun, spontaneous San Francisco day trip to see Uncle Spencer (my brother) at the Cruise Ship he was staying at for a Conference.
The kids said they loved having an afternoon with Uncle Spencer all to themselves.
It really was a treat!
We went to In and Out with Uncle Spencer in Southern California 3 1/2 years ago, and our kids still think of him and the Neopolitan (that my kids accidentally called "Metropolitan") shakes he taught us about,
so we made a new In and Out memory that truly involved a metropolis this time. :)
We made our way down to the Boardwalk and had fun doing Parkour and watching our Uncle Hurcules hurdle buildings.
We opened some altoids that we had with us and there was a paper that said, Curiously Strong Mints and "Uncle!" The kids thought it was funny because we were with our
CURIOUSLY STRONG UNCLE.
We have wanted to check out Fort Point underneath the Golden Gate Bridge, and it was as super cool experience to see it for the first time with Uncle Spencer in the rain!
Such a wonderful opportunity to catch up with Spencer and make a new memory!

Spencer told the kids mission stories while we were driving around in San Francisco and he had them laughing so hard. Especially his impersonation of a homeless man watching him save a skid that almost wrecked his bike, "That was awesome, that was seriously awesome!"
We tried some new kinds of Ghirardelli chocolate together on our way back to the ship.
It was totally worth the drive, traffic, and parallel parking to see Spence!
We don't say goodbye, only see you next time.

Tuesday I was up at 4am because I was not prepared for this Young Women's
(our church's youth program) activity we had planned.
We called it, "How to Attract a High Quality Return Missionary Part Two."
Part One was in the Spring and was about personal hygiene, hair care, etc.
Part two was a "Chastity Quest."
The girls were given instruction and given the ring above with "Habits of Virtue" to help them on their quest.
They used their habits as the encountered temptations and challenges in room two.
When they made it through room 2 they were prepared to enter the temple room.
It turned out to be a neat activity, and hopefully one they will remember as they date and prepare to go to the temple to be married someday.
Sterling has become my carrot peeling pro.
I love his look of concentration and he does a great job!

has become the ultimate date spot with the kids, and so that's what
Sterling picked out for his date with Dad too.
Rob and I enjoyed a two day trip to a finance seminar with the medical group
in Napa this weekend.
Loved the view of the hot air balloons as we drove into town.
After our first 8 hours of mental exertion we found a Mom and Pop Asian place for some Shrimp Pad Thai and Orange Chicken (guess who got what...)
and saw the movie
EVEREST
at the IMAX 3D Theater.
Incredible Movie!
Driving back Saturday AM for 8 more hours of fun.
It was a very beneficial seminar, and we were excited to start looking ahead and making plans for our future.
I am grateful for all of Rob's hard work and sacrifices that have brought us the financial security of Senior Physician at Kaiser.
Color me appropriately proud.
Emily Lipps (who lives by us and is waiting to go on a mission to Brazil in five weeks)
stayed with our kids.
They had fun doing challenges and had surprise bags with activities and snacks when they got them done.
When we got home we headed to the ward

and stayed up to watch the BYU football game
(Rob got a 3 month cable subscription for his birthday last week for football season).

I love Sunday.
We always need a day to spend time on the most important things and regroup and rest.
