Ellie (our Crafty, French Diva)
has had some exciting things going on the past few weeks.
She got to be on stage at Eriksson Elementary twice within a week.
The first time was for the school,
"Diversity Day."
It was on a Friday Night, and it included the different classes performing music they had learned from around the world, followed by a tour of the world. Everyone received a passport, and we went from room to room learning about different Countries and even tasting authentic food from there.
While living in Michigan we have been able to meet people from many different cultures.
We have especially become acquainted with a large population of Middle Eastern families, and are now more familiar with their foods, clothing, and especially their dancing. Some of the girls at Eriksson performed Bahngra for the Diversity Day. I have learned how to Bahngra because so many of my Zumba students are Middle Eastern and request Bahngra dances. I love it! It has been fascinating and fun to learn about. Here are a few Middle Easter women in their Sari's.
Ellie wanted to dress French to represent our heritage.
The boys enjoyed all the taste testing and their adventures around the world. Especially playing on the cool Bongo drums.
The Second time Ellie's smile lit up the stage was for the Second Grade Choir concert,
"Suessical the Musical"
She did such a wonderful job! She knew every action and word, and really enjoyed playing it up. It was such a cute program. She had been talking about and singing songs from it for weeks! They even made a DVD of it we were able to buy. It has been fun to watch again and again.

They made the Dr. Suess fish in art class as props for the "McKelligot's Pool" part of the program.
Ellie is loving creating things in Activity days (cookie above), art class (below), and at home.
She always has a new art project or doodle she's working on.
A week or two ago, when it just started to warm up, I found Ellie and Maya "Laying out" with cucumbers on their eyes.
What a little diva.
Ellie has also loved tagging along to Young Women's
with the other daughters of the Young Women leaders whenever she can.

It is amazing to look back and see how much Ellie has grown up while we have been in Michigan, just don't grow up too fast Mademoiselle Ellie!
