I love how these guys play together.
This last week of unexpected events began with being caught by the missionary dinner sign up Sister walking out of church and being asked to feed the missionaries Tuesday night...hey no Young Women's or scouts this week...that works great!
We love having the missionaries in our home,
especially Elder Heckel who is the one who lived next door to my Grandma Lyn and served her by taking out her trash every week, shoveling her walk, and taking the sacrament the last few years of her life. Feeding him is an expression of gratitude for me.
Trevor said he always hugs him because he "feels like a brother."
We made our favorite pasta salad (gluten free version) and mango freeze. Yum!
Wednesday morning was unexpectedly stressful because I tried to download a podcast for our drive to Davis and got a worm on our wifi! After a crazy hour on the phone and computer that I didn't have to give, we were able to get help. We didn't know our new wifi router didn't have any protection on it. It gratefully does now.
We made it just 10 minutes late to our Field trip to the
CALIFORNIA RAPTOR CENTER
Very cool presentation about raptors and hands on taxidermy raptors to hold,
I didn't know their feathers were so soft.
It was cool to flap the owl wing and hear how silent it flies.
I'm glad I'm not a mouse.
We learned about different ways they hunt, fly, nest and the changes in their coloring (even their eyes) as they mature into adulthood. Funky!

My kids were split between two groups so I went back and forth so I could get pictures of everyone.
Sterling is just finished a bird watching unit in his science class so we set up this field trip with some families from his class.

When we got home from the Field Trip I sat down at my desk to catch my breath after the stressful morning with the computer.... and looked down to see my
DIAMOND MISSING FROM MY WEDDING RING.
SHOCK.
Oh, no! It really could be anywhere. Even in the dirt somewhere in Davis an hour a way.
After gymnastics lessons, I gathered the kids together, told them it was missing and not to vacuum and asked them to help me look for it. We knelt down and prayed together (not the first prayer I'd said about it). I thought I would go look in my room since that was where I discovered it missing, but after praying with the kids I remembered I had done some laundry after the raptor center.
I went strait to the laundry room and...
FOUND MY DIAMOND.
Just sitting in the middle of the room on the ground. It showed up after I moved several loads of laundry and some shoes.
How? Really?
It could have so easily gone through the wash and been lost forever, or fallen out in the dirt in Davis.
I found it only five minutes after we prayed.
What a blessing and a sweet miracle!
I'm so grateful I didn't have to search for hours as well.
We gathered and prayed again in gratitude.
I absolutely love my wedding diamond that Rob scrimped for and carefully picked out for me.
Feeling so grateful!
I believe in personalized miracles and I know Heavenly Father actively cares for us.
Wednesday was wild too because
Brenna had 4 bad bloody noses in one day,
including one at the raptor center and one in the middle of the night.
I almost took her in to the doctors because one wouldn't stop.
Poor lady buggy.
Ryan made some coolness at STEM class!
It's a car.
Thursday began with Brenna complaining of an ear ache.
I snuck Ibuprofen in her smoothie and she did fine at Preschool.
After class she had a melt down because her ear hurt so bad and she threw up...I didn't know it was so bad, poor baby!
She lay on a warm rice bag for the afternoon,
the first doctor appointment I could get wasn't until Friday morning.
She has a bad ear infection, not fun.
She sure doesn't like to take her antibiotics (not sure why??), and it sure tests our patience and creativity to try to negotiate with a three year old.
Hopefully she can get enough down to get better soon!

While I was helping B, Ellie helped Trevor decorate his
cupcakes for the Blue and Gold Banquet.
Trevor picked a design on Monday with a blue and gold scout theme.
Gratefully, the cub scout fleur de lis cookie cutter came through amazon in time!

and one of the grand prizes for the "Best Scout Theme"
Sterling had an
unexpected reaction to something in his cupcake
and broke out in hives!
He was breathing fine, and by the time we got home they were gone. He hasn't had hives since he was 18 months old... maybe a preservative that he's allergic too.
It gave us a scare.
Trevor is
"one in a minion." :)
It was his first Den Meeting as a Bear!
Brenna and I stopped by Trader Joes on our way home from the doctors for some yogurt to have with her antibiotics.
We haven't been to Traders in a long while and she loves the little carts.
Friday we had some unexpected fun with the
Dufort Family at
ROLLER KING.
It was raining and so we found something fun to do indoors!
It was refreshing to have a break from the week to catch up with good friends and have some fun trying something new.
It was Brenna, Sterling and Trevor's first time rollerskating!
They came home with some knee bruises, but they did okay.
As we all know so well, learning new things often comes with pain.
We sure love these wonderful friends!
Unexpected is an inviting surprise for us when it is fun!
Friday night Rob and I got to have some incredible
cherry smoked Tri-tip and some good laughs playing
Kahoots and Pictionary at the Elder's Quorum Dinner Party.
My Iphone took a few hours of my Saturday because it still has some kind of bug and isn't working properly. Electronics, love 'em when they work, hate 'em when they don't.
Love pancake making Saturdays, and because of the wind/rain storm and the young women snowshoeing activity was canceled and we spent most the day inside at home as a family.
Rob and I snuck out in the weather to the temple which was marvelous!
At about 6:30 pm the wind and rain were pounding and howling and we heard a crash outside. We thought our porch swing tipped over, which it did.
Over an hour later while watching the BYU basketball game as a family, Ellie came in and said the
water wasn't coming out of the sink.
We tried to see if online there was a water line broken in
Roseville, because the whole house was without water!
Rob made a call and went outside to investigate in the storm...
The fence blew over and broke our sprinkler pipes,
sending a flood and all our water pressure down the gutter for a couple hours!
Rob was able to turn off the sprinklers and we have water in the house again.
Here comes our first claim on our Home Owner's Insurance.
What a week of unexpected, surprising, wild, fun, interesting and even miraculous events!
By now we expect nothing but the unexpected.
